Animation shows the operation of the Retractable Roof of the new Atlanta stadium

The excitement of the new Atlanta Falcons stadium – Atlanta’s football team, unveils an unprecedented retractable roof designed by the 360 Architecture office (recently incorporated into HOK). According to the official website of the stadium, the coverage divided into eight petals can rotate and open in less than eight minutes (in a movement similar to the diaphragm of a camera).

The stadium has seats for up to 83,000 fans, a public square of over 6,000m² and the expected 100-yard-long field. The inauguration of the work took place on August 26, 2017 in a preseason game in which the Falcons faced the Arizona Cardinals. The Mercedes-Benz Stadium will also host the Super Bowl LIII in 2019.
