Since the beginning of humanity, our ancestors have sought ways to communicate aesthetic ideas and values, so as to convey not only knowledge but also to record our passage on the planet. “Architecture is history written in stone,” paraphrasing the great architect Vilanova Artigas, this record has undergone many changes since Brunelleschi used orthogonal views and perspectives to convey his ideas to other builders. Palladio was one of the first architects to have a large work, to make use of the transmission of this knowledge, innovative drawings for the period, loaded with data, enabled the architect’s knowledge to be transmitted without his presence.

Innovation is the key word for us. Always looking for new ways to innovate, Lopes Dias Arquitetura is an office that currently works with the tool known as BIM.

BIM means Building Information Modeling. In addition to a tool, BIM can be described as a new 3D modeling concept that gives architecture, engineering and construction professionals the vision and tools they need to plan, design, build, and manage buildings more intelligently and efficiently.

We are currently working with the Revit tool, which allows us to more complete modeling, both in 2D and as 3D, of each project we do, providing excellence both in technical and visual aspects.

In addition to Revit, we work with Navisworks project analysis software to help us analyze the models and data provided by complementary designers in an integrated way, generating better control over project results. The software tools facilitate integration, analysis and communication, assisting our team in a better multidisciplinary coordination and enabling conflict resolution before construction, ensuring a better project result.

The software provides the most complete project review solution, enabling consistent, coordinated and, above all, correct construction documentation. Through it, greater workflow agility was achieved, helping to reduce time wastage, increasing efficiency, and significantly reducing change.

Automatic and precise quantification are the first and main advantages when it comes to using Bim. Aiming for greater quantitative and qualitative control over everything we design, we internally developed a system to facilitate our project management and creation of quantitative tables for budgets and projects. In this way, we guarantee the accuracy of our quantitative, ensuring that any changes to the modeling will be automatically updated in the budget table. The integration between Revit and the needs of the various types of budgets has been facilitated by the adoption of a rating and validation system developed by our internal team in conjunction with specialized consultants. Currently we can generate tables according to our needs or requests from our clients, either by area or by type of material.
